Michael Billow studied visual art at the University of NY at Plattsburgh where he became a founding member and full time composer for the AB George Non-Dance Ensemble. His pursuits included independent studies in theater and video as well. He also studied at Purchase College, the Massachusetts College of Art and the Center for Electronic Art in San Francisco.
His videos have been screened in film festivals in Boston, NY and San Francisco, and he has produced musical scores for performances at MIT and Harvard University. His work was featured at the Film Arts Foundation, Artist Television Access, Mobius Theater, Boston Film & Video Foundation, Cambridge Community Television, Mass Art and the Boston Visual Artists Union where he was a recipient of the Eventworks fund.
Psychological themes are found throughout Michael's media projects, and his experience in social work informs those ideas. His work as an educator includes teaching video at the Academy of Art University graduate school and empowering at-risk youth through digital arts. He has developed and run computer/music education projects for various human service programs.
